Why I'm thrilled the cult inquiry mentioned it

Last week, the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into Cults and Organised Fringe Groups handed down its recommendations. It was a thrilling moment (right before the moment there was a giant data breach which cast a shadow over a genuinely world-leading report which made belief-neutral legislation against cultic abuse possible for the first time).

*sigh

Anyway. In the report, there was a significant discussion around homeschooling, specifically around child safety. I am a homeschool kid, and I know a lot of homeschool kids. So imagine my chagrin this morning when I spotted a reel in which Jasmine Yuen of the Australian Christian lobby was attempting to make this a religious freedom issue. Its not. Its an issue of child safety.
